µ-Ziq – Lunatic Harness

Hasty boom alert is best I ve ever heard. Of course another tracks in this album are also nice.
I keep this LP in my DJ bag always.

This was the first u-ziq album I bought, and I am still impressed by it every time I listen to it. The first few tracks are excellent, from the spastic keyboards on "Brace Yourself Jason" to the masterful use of cymbals on "Hasty Boom Alert." Unfortunately, the album's quality seems to decline towards the end of the album, the crux of which being the hard to get through "London." While most of the tracks towards the end are still good, they do not leave as much of a lasting impression on the listener as do the first few tracks.

Definitely THE Mike Paradinas release, weird arrangements & abstract melodies between this breakbeat madness make this tune to something special. And a really excellent work, sure will have an influence on other artists in drum'n'bass scene... respect.

Well, perhaps not an 'absolute genius', but certainly one of the originals, much imitated. Muzik magazine, in 1997 asked "his most accessible record yet?" perhaps so, the beats aren't so messed up you can't get into them, and this is good pre-DSP beat-trickery.

This is certainly one of the greatest achievements not only of Mu-Ziq, but an electronic benchmark as well. It combines both melody and rhythm without focusing on one of these dimensions only (and with a better production than Tango N Vectif). On the brink of chaos, but that's why this album is so sparkling with genius. GET THIS!

Mike Paradinas, the man behind U-ziq, is an absolute genius. In the mid 90's he hung out with Tom Jenkinson (Squarepusher), Richard D. James (Aphex Twin), and Luke vibert (Plug, Wagon Christ) His style feature more funk/jazzish stylings, with flowing atmospherics with a spacey feel. This best track on this album is the first track!
