Yet another golden oldie to look out for... This is one of the very first releases by one of the best goatrance labels ever IMO Matsuri records, and it has the debuts of Tristan and Andy Guthrie (better known for his Medicine Drum project). A-side is a really explosive track, the typical this is so intense that I feel like pulling my hair out feeling that only old goatrance tracks manage to give you. The B-side is less good, but it's certainly not a downer, simply that Spiritus is so explosive it kind of shades the b-side...

Side A: Spiritus is the track you look for, it's a mindblowing, incredibly mad, psychoactive psychodelic mindexpanding delirant tune!! And I needn't say more, definetely a killer from the very first second, layers over layers, mystical vibes and all mixed together in a wonderful melting pot. Excellent
Side B: Compared to side A, it really sux!! no idea why they decided to release such different tunes on the same ep. It has nothing special, it is rather boring and dull, probably thanks to Tristan. It is simple and lacks a lot of elements, for it to be called a true goa track. It is rather progressive and breakbeat alike in the percussion, something little nice toward the middle but nothing worth, i would never play this on a set I guess.

Side A deserves a monstrous attention, excellent track

As the third release from Matsuri, this is a gem of a record. Written by heavyweights Tristan Cooke and Andy Guthrie, this is a rare devotion to the desert trance movement, which may have sort of morphgenesized into Goa. You can especially hear Tristan's influence in the Gobi Desert track. Guthrie is no stranger to the psychedelic realm. He recorded with Prana, Funkopath and Medecine drum. Guthrie could be more of the driving force as 100th Monkey; Tristan as the infectiously repetitious appendage. This is a beautiful, weird record.
