On how many releases the track 'Der Klang Der Familie' appears till today, nearly uncounted. It is doubtless the biggest techno track from Berlin, if asking ravers, especially those who took part of the early rising of the harder techno club scene, always pointed out 'ah..THE Tresor, oh, I remember...' connected with 'Klang Der Familie'. In my opinion the original version 'Klang Der Familie' fits perfect into the picture of the Tresor Club, it has those edges and cants like the rooms of the original club down under the earth and all the remixes which are done are second best although there are really great ones like the MIKE Remix, the FUSE Remix or the Dr Rythm Remix.
Not so much is written and said about the two other tracks on the Tresor 6, so I want to recommend in particular the 'Spacegenerator' track. It is a more ambient or space track not without a kind of drive, and this is a serious trip, but without a bassdrum. The atmosphere is a deep dark melodic surface and in the first 6 minutes carried by a again and again screwing and expressing deep sequence going into the listeners heart. 'Spacegenerator' has the same quality like the main track but in another style of the electronic genre.
Together with the techno, or teKKno?, -track 'The Camonist' (it has not such a clear hookline like 'Der Klang Der Familie' but is also a high quality child of this early Tresor philosophy of hard unique techno, seen through the eyes of the originators) this three tracks are very special because Roingh & Röhrig had the luck during they had composed this tracks, to be kissed by this magic genius. As the Techno history and the careers of so many techno artists show this don't happens every day, it is a luck to have this special mood and moment.

By now you should be aware of this track which has been released and remixed and re-released time and time again.
But in this rare gold covered Novamute release from 1993, you get the pre-Plastikman remixes by Richie Hawtin under his F.U.S.E. moniker. That being said this was when Richie was at his best IMO. This one is special and something that anyone into techno should own.

There has been about a dozen attempts to remix this track, since its original version was first released, some 12 years ago. Of all the attempts, this release on Mindstar is the most superior remix.
M.I.K.E. pulls off a remix of such high praise, that it is a shame that it gets lost amongst a pile of mediocre remixes. I am thinking about the Silver Planet remixes which are sub-standard versions of this classic. This release however builds off the energy of the original and wins the crowd over every time.

What makes a true classic? I don't really know either! But this track really is a true classic! Perfect in every way and remembered by many as their first introduction to this genre known as techno, this track reeks of a true classic. The way the electronics rhythmically pulse and bend, this track is perfection in every detail! Still turns me on every time I hear it and wish I'd hear it spun more. This track pretty much defines the meaning of techno. And still it's about as simple as it gets, that's why it defines techno. Techno always was the blending of compositional elements (melody) mixed with driving beats (rhythm) to make a music that didn't make you think too hard yet wasn't too moronically simplistic. That's why this track defines perfect techno. I wish people would start taking notes again! Classic? HELL YES!

This track really kind of started a small revolution for many techno enthusiasts. Some would say that Plastikman did, but that was really phase 2 of the techno revolution in the United States. What is it about this track? Well, I can only speak for myself but I suppose the killer sounds and the rhythmic pulse and robotic feel all impart the magic, this is just simply a killer track that deserves to be heard by every person on the planet who fancies themselves a techno afficianado. From the tight 909 kick drum to the "rubber band" 303, the production is simply flawless. The ambiance is deep, like you're literally in an underground subway tunnel riding the 8:15 to the city. But wait, it's dark, there's no lights on, just lasers piercing the darkness and sweaty bodies all around you pulsing to the rhythm, strobe lights flaring - is this 1992 one mile under Berlin? You bet it is! That's why we called it "underground" techno back then! It never lost its edge for me. You simply must check out this track. And Spacegenerator? Why that's a whole separate universe so I'll leave it to your imagination if you ever get this 12"! Yeah, it's worth searching for! CHECK IT!

It's interesting to note that this release was done without permission. The original release on Tresor was simply taken by Derrick May and recut in Detroit for release on his label. This caused considerable friction in the relationship between Detroit and Berlin, and was a rather bold display of the May's arrogance (some of which is justified...but this??).
