Reviews & Discussion

I bought this for 'Searchin', way back in the early ninties. Very typcal of the stuff i was listening to at the time. Early Network / Warp / NuGroove / Ur / Transmat / etc. Your typical 20 something's taste in slightly off center dance music. I'd hadn't listened to it in ages but decided to dig it out recently. Imagine my surprise when i listened to the other tracks. 'Breakin Wind' is indeed a groovy wee track, not unlike one of the more recent disco re-edits that seem to be de rigeur these days. All minimal groove & subtle effects dropped in live. 'Disco 4' also has the funk. Cut from the same cloth as 'Breakin Wind' but no less esential. Needless to say, it fit's right in with my mid 30's taste in obscure Disco & wanky overpriced Larry Levan bootlegs. Now, where did i put my slippers ? . . . . .

"Searchin'" is a top track, But the one for me is "Breakin Wind". Allways put's a smile on my dial. Was a big floor filler back in Melbourne 1991. Something that is so simple, but so current in sound. Sounds like DAFT PUNK style disco loop. For me, this ways the only reason for getting this 12". If you love NU-GROOVE, then this is a must have......

"Searchin'" is a monster track, a definite classic, but what appears to be widely overlooked is the fact that the baseline was sampled directly from A Guy Called Gerald - "Blow Your House Down", one of the extra tracks on the original EP release of "Voodoo Ray" (discogs release ID 64961).
