Having in mind that a collection such as this has a little bit of a "best of" concept, I have to say that it does bother me a bit the fact that two of the most important remixes of all time, as far as D&B goes, aren't here.
How can the remix for "Peace and Loveism" (Sonz of a Loop da Loop Era), and "Finley's Rainbow" (A Guy Called Gerald) be ignored here? To keep the smooth jazz touch 4 Hero have been developing in the last years? No... I hope that thats not the excuse, because its not a good one.
However, and all in all, ALL the remixes deserve to be here, so, you dont wanna miss this, and the forthcoming chapters.

A sort of 4 Hero retrospective, THE REMIX ALBUM features remixes of and by 4 Hero, probably one of the more influential electronic groups out there. Pioneers in both drum ‘n’ bass and future jazz, 4 Hero has been prolific in their work. The remixes that they feature on their first disc shows a penchant for jazziness and their interest in the music of peoples of color: we have reworks of the Latin fusion of Nuyorican Soul and Marcos Valle, the proto techno of Japan’s YMO, hip-hop from Scarface, and Goldie’s drum ‘n’ bass classic “Inner City Life.” No surprises here: their thoughtful downtempo take on Ultra Nate’s “Twisted” and Terry Callier’s “Love Theme from Spartacus” glow with emotion and power. Their version of John Coltrane’s “Naima” is absolutely stunning. On the 2nd disc, it’s a testament to 4 Hero’s songwriting skills that they can be translated into so many different modes, from broken beat (via Bugz in the Attic) to deep house (Masters at Work) or hip-hop (Visioneers). There’s a veritable who’s-who of future jazz luminaries: Jazzanova, Restless Soul, New Sector Movements and King Britt. If you’ve been a devoted 4 Hero fan, you probably already own most of these mixes, but why not have them all in one convenient place? It certainly bears repeated listens.
