Hoxton Whores provide one and many unofficial remixes on various limited edition vinyls. Some fair better then others and with that in mind, this orange vinyl pressing is a good one. Taking the original "Voodoo Ray" by A Guy Called Gerald, Hoxton Whores seem to just fine tune the original version from 1988. A couple of people might wonder what the point is? All I can say is that it is a nice loud 12" smooth to mix and superior to the original without making much of a fuss. Watch the trainspotters in queue.

I don't see how anyone could enjoy this. I like acid house, and I can understand that this was made when technology was outdated, but come on! This tune sucks! There is nothing interesting about it. The acid lines are boring and monotonous, and the sound effects are too loud and give me a headache. It sounds too unoriginal, there is no hook and there is nothing that separates this from other tunes of the time.

Be aware of this one! Not talking about bootlegs and the lost Artist creditation which is a shame anyway, but they even did not make their homework before they rerecord from the original. The mix is full of pops and not cleaned mastered. They need to get a treatment for Wavelab and recording! I mean, it is the worst thing on the side of bootlegin if somebody rerecord from an original vinyl and his copy is messed up. These guys wann be so important or what? dont support this label.

This is probably the greatest British house record ever made and certainly one of the most startling original pieces of house music ever created. The paradise ballroom mix is infact one of Frankie Knuckle's remixes which does not get the status or playtime it deserves. Of course the original is superb and just sounds like it was made from another planet but I do like the frankie knuckles remix which I seem to play more often and which is delightful for mixing due to it's teasing & haunting intro.

One of the all time Madchester classics. Everyone knows voodoo ray, with its insistent acid rhythm, but its the B side that holds most interest. It's an acid track with the sample Arcade fantasy, repeated Voodoo Ray style over the top, and as far as I know is not found on any of the 12" versions.

Following on from FAC-IENDA's comment. Gerald was Manchester's answer to Derrick May. A tune that I will never fail to love. The original mix is the best. It sounds like the sun rising over Manchester on a summer's morning at the beginning, and just escalates from there with wicked samples and THE best acid-line ever. How did he come up with this???

There is a frightening genious in this tune. This is the only version I have on vinyl but I've heard a few other mixes and I'm really happy with these ones, particularly the paradise ballroom mix with it's piano break into.

A medium tempo acidclassic from -88!
More like "halfway" chill out, a singing girl above the TB 303 togheter with a classic sample: voodoo ray...
Voodoo ray on Warlock contain exclusive mixes, some very laidback.

This is one of THE most classic early house/acid house tracks ever produced, Legend has it Gerald simpson (A guy Called Gerald)Was a regular face at Manchesters HACIENDA and after he made the track he got it pressed on to vinyl and went to the HACIENDA with the copy he got pressed and handed it to the dj's, Gerald went off back to the dance floor hopeing they would like it and sure enough much to his delight a couple of tracks later the dj droped it in, the crowd was said to of gone crazy and it was to become an anthem.
