A Man Called Adam - Earthly Powers

What a tune indeed! I first discovered Earthly Powers whilst listening to a London pirate house radio station in 1989 (think it was Centreforce)...which luckily I was taping, making it easier to ID the tune later. In those days, the pirates used to play a much broader range of music...mixed into this went Charvoni's rendition of "Always There"...

I love this whole song altogether, and it still sounds totally unique...but the one part of the song that literally blew me away when I first heard it is the mad, deep, trippy, flute breakdown about 5 minutes into the song...this puts the "acid" into acid jazz!!!

A spellbinding blissful -song- with amazing orchestration and a synergy of vibration that should have helped to define and lead what could have been expected from the relatively newly created 'acid jazz' genre.
Not just an amazing track, not even a great tune. 'Is it reeeeeaaal ?..'
A song really, but way outside of the mainstream hasty radio format and also club qualified but never delving into the extended repetitive techno loophole. Instead you have music, the ever haunting organic bass line, insinuating percussive latin tingles, discrete blend of guitar wah and keys at times, outflow of spaced-out jaunty organ, supreme strings and brass on pefect occurance and a flute in a fugue escaping from blaxploitation perfectly melting with Sally's graceful way of singing. This euphonious epic is a subtle prowess in mixing and arrangement taste too. For the better days of all times classics ... A lot of what is named dance music nowadays just sounds incredibly lame compared to this. This song also seams to emanate an uncorrupted message for ... an ever expanding candid multiverse ! Made in 1989 but anytimes fresh as the morning dew and nearly always in my moving record case since then ! Techno Powers has been re-issued in 2005 on Southern Fried with an Harvey remix but the true capital fellow here is 'Earthly'. This is with no doubt one of my all time favorite, chant, dance to it anytime, the same at my cineration.

Absolutely early "Acid Jazz" classic track! Miles and years forwards! Very rare and very expensive... Ask for it!
