Notes

Moment Utopia is about how humans today are finding new forms and spaces for community, self expression and spiritual celebration through dance. Moment Utopia takes this concept and explores it thorugh the youth electronic music culture. Spiritual ritual, mysticism, and celebration has existed in every culture since humans started wondering about where we came from, who we are and where we going. Moment Utopia celebrates this connection of ancient and future.

Shot on Digital Video, Super 8 and 16mm film, this film offers a rather unconventional documentary format. In seven waves, the audience is taken on a journey of time lapse cinematography and music by ABA Structure. Different forms of music and dance are explored from Pow Wow celebrations in South Dakota, urban warehouse raves in Toronto and the unique Moontribe gatherings in the deserts outside Los Angeles.

Integrated with this visual and musical collage, unique perspectives of Native American culture and rave culture are voiced through interviews of people from different cultural and generational backgrounds.
