Acen / Production House really were on a roll with releases like this back in the day. They had a canny knack of using samples creatively and loads of ideas that on paper just shouldn't work. I remember tracking this down alongside a copy of Part 2 to my local Our Price in Colchester, safe to say it was one of the best £10.00 I've spent on records... a great release, essential rave and pretty hard to beat. I remember hearing Kevin Saunderson playing it in Brighton at an all-nighter as one of his last records and it really did set the party off... why aren't records like this any more?

A long time a go,when i was at school.I was listening to the top 40,i this wicked tune came on,with it's fast breakbeat+the biggest dop down and the high speed,i can't believe my feeling.
Acen is (in my mind)one of biggest producer of hardcore.
Trip to the moon made me love hardcore and is my number track.
If i look back now hardcore in 1992 was the best and acen was at the top,the trip to the moon P.T 1,2 + in close your eyes.
P.T 2 is the best, it dark+fast i love it.

I accidentally heard "Kaleidascopiklimax" very recently in an old mix i did, And i dare i say it, That is one of the only records in my collection that nearly reduces me to tears when i hear it.
Not only that, But the flip side "obsessed 2" is pretty much more of the same, Its all very emotional, but its that very thing that makes this record what it is.

Powerful stuff, not many oldskool breakbeat records can do that to a grown man.

Mr. Acen Razvi, the man behind the amazing “Trip To The Moon” series and considered part of Production House amazing talents, surprised everyone with the B Siede of his (Kaleidoscopiklimax) single, Honoring the Junglists greatest tradition of Breakbeat samples: “Obsessed II (Pictures Of Silence)” got no less than the drummers of “Funky Mule”, a classic by Ike Turner's Kings Of Rhythm of 1969. On the A Side you can hear "We're On The Move", a sample of a timeless classic by Sinnamon (by the way one of the greatest male vocals of the dance music history); Eric B & Rakim are also remembered with a fragment of "Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em".

I heard Kaleidoscopiklimax in late '92 or early '93 when, of all people, Pete Tong played it on Radio 1. No exaggeration to say it changed my life; got me into breakbeat hardcore, and hence specialist record shops instead of the High St, and hence DJing and a love of all forms of electronic music.

More than that, 14 years later this remains one of my all-time favourite records. The production is just so spot on, it bursts with energy, and it's a proper trip worthy of the name. The b-side (Obsessed II) is also stunning, evoking a more melancholy mood. I never rated the rest of the series so highly, I think this is Acen's peak, but what a peak!

When I first heard Trip To The Moon I was shocked. It was the greatest things my ears ever went through. To this day when this track gets played I go crazy. The memories it brings and the joy it has giving me for eternity. This track has everything you can want. When you hear this track get ready to be lost and find yourself never wanting to return. I never have returned since. One way ticket to the moon. Parts 1 and 2 a masterpiece. Move over Mona Lisa!! This is the real deal!

Visionary rave music, that has not been surpassed by Acen or any other artist. A truly spiritual track, exploding with ideas, creativity and passion - three ingredients that so many producers sadly lack today.

There will never be another Trip II the Moon trilogy!

As mentioned, there are 2 different versions of this tune.
One has the original samples from James Bond & and has them re-synthed. There are also differences in the vocal arangements & there are also some differences in some of the sounds used.
Etched into the A-Side of the vinyl of the 1st version is PNT042A. On the re-synthed more common one, PNT042A-3.
If you have a white label with PNT042A-1, then its most likely a bootleg of the common version.

There are at least 3 versions which I have heard of Trip to the Moon Part 2.
The normal version with Pic sleeve is the common version. Etched into the vinyl is PNT042R A-3. This has a re-synthed part instead of the original Bond sample.
The white label version with 'Official DJ Promo' stamped on it has the original sample from Bond, and also has some vocals re-aranged. Etched into the A-side is PNT042R A-1.
There is also another version with a totally different string section which was played by S.Jackson on Kiss FM back in 92. I only have a recording of this unfortunately.

I was shocked when I picked this up recently on re-press - one of the greatest oldskool hardcore tunes of all time. Original, beautifully dark and absolutely mashing beats. Drop this in a club and watch them run for cover.
