Notes

Acen's notes on this release:

"Written & produced in the early spring of 1992 on the MPC-60 - SH101 & W30.

Track A samples 'Space March' by John Barry & 'I Know You Got Soul' by Eric B & Rakim.

I recreated the sound I had in my head at 7 years of age for the intro - this is what i thought the moon sounded like a decade before I recorded it."

The opening sample on Obsessed is from the opening bars of Shirley Bassey's Diamonds are Forever.

Acen / Production House really were on a roll with releases like this back in the day. They had a canny knack of using samples creatively and loads of ideas that on paper just shouldn't work. I remember tracking this down alongside a copy of Part 2 to my local Our Price in Colchester, safe to say it was one of the best £10.00 I've spent on records... a great release, essential rave and pretty hard to beat. I remember hearing Kevin Saunderson playing it in Brighton at an all-nighter as one of his last records and it really did set the party off... why aren't records like this any more?

When I first heard Trip To The Moon I was shocked. It was the greatest things my ears ever went through. To this day when this track gets played I go crazy. The memories it brings and the joy it has giving me for eternity. This track has everything you can want. When you hear this track get ready to be lost and find yourself never wanting to return. I never have returned since. One way ticket to the moon. Parts 1 and 2 a masterpiece. Move over Mona Lisa!! This is the real deal!

As mentioned, there are 2 different versions of this tune.
One has the original samples from James Bond & and has them re-synthed. There are also differences in the vocal arangements & there are also some differences in some of the sounds used.
Etched into the A-Side of the vinyl of the 1st version is PNT042A. On the re-synthed more common one, PNT042A-3.
If you have a white label with PNT042A-1, then its most likely a bootleg of the common version.

I was shocked when I picked this up recently on re-press - one of the greatest oldskool hardcore tunes of all time. Original, beautifully dark and absolutely mashing beats. Drop this in a club and watch them run for cover.

This had to be pulled off the shelves because of one of the samples. Acen re-recorded it with a proper orchestra and it was released again. You can hear the difference.
