Reviews & Discussion

This tune is massive. Period. We went raving shortly after it was released and it was played by all the DJs at least once in their sets. Mother Earth should not be overlooked, it is the antithesis to Metropolis utilising a voice mail message left by Goldie, indicating his doubt that Adam would finish the tunes on time. He did and the rest is history.
Another piece of semi useless information: the tune was released during the summer of 1996. Upon hearing Metropolis for the first time DJ Hype apparently said, "God, is it winter already?" Ha,ha!

THE biggest tune of 1996 without doubt! "Metropolis" rocked the place till the roofs came tumbling down and the walls exploded. This sounded like nothing else at the time, very futuristic and of course it was brought to us by Goldie's Metalheadz label. The production is sublime, it's one of the biggest sounding tunes I've ever heard and when played out at a club it made people absolutely crazy out of their minds. The drop after the spooky intro is just mindbendingly good, kicks like a hardcore metal mule on steroids. The beats are brilliant, the bass is HUGE and the whole feel of it is so utterly precise and evil sounding - this tune has few equals in drum&bass. Truly legendary stuff which hasn't aged a day since it came out, would still kick major ass today. One of my all time favorite tunes. Adam F really delivered this time! Big up!
