Enigmatic and enchanting, the duo of Adventure Time take the listener on a nautical journey on DREAMS OF WATER THEMES. Refusing to be limited to any category, there are elements of jazz, hip-hop, funk, and good ol' fashioned downtempo thrown into the stew here. "The Age of Aquariums" drifts at to its catchy bass, while "Eel Sand Witch" chugs along like a barnacled freighter before morphing into some African-inspired rhythms (which will recur on the final hidden track). On the flip side, "General Midi vs. Rusty 4eyes" takes a more uptempo route, and the exotica of "Sent from Sandy Shores" is grounded by Saul Williams' spoken word and sent into the stratosphere by near operatic vocals from Sacajawea. "The Girl from the Well" draws from Bulgarian women's choirs and East Asian melodies. An utterly beguiling release. Love the cover art by kozyndan, too.

Wow... I've listened to this cd 4 times in the past 24 hours (including right now) and I'm still wanting more.
This sucker is all over the place... A bit of rap from Pigeon John, free verse from Saul Williams over beautiful female vocals, and lots of solid instrumentals intercut with crazy little sample vignettes. Utterly unclassifiable. Why in the hell can't it be longer? Hidden track at the end of the cd makes me sweat with joy.
The cd jacket artwork is gorgeous too.
An aural cafeteria of delicious steamy beats in spicy and exotic sauces. YUM!!!
