Words From Agalloch:
"All the material was taken from the original analog sources. Aside from some slight mastering to keep the songs at an even volume, nothing was edited or polished. This collection includes a 12-page booklet with notes, era-related artwork, and never-before seen photos from a January 1998 session."

From Which Of This Oak
1997 demo
Side A
The Wilderness
As Embers Dress The Sky
Side B
Foliorum Viridium
This Old Cabin
Recorded at Smegma studio in late Autumn 1996
Originally released in March 1997
Exactly 200 chrome-cassette copies were printed, though numerous
dubbed copies were made for fanzines, etc.
While recording the guitar tracks, the first snow of 1996 began and continued for the next several hours of the session. We watched the gradual accumulation through the large studio windows as we played. Needless to say, it was inspirational.

Of Stone, Wind, and Pillor
unreleased 7" ep 1998
Side A
Of Stone, Wind, and Pillor
Side B
Foliorum Viridium
Haunting Birds
Recorded at Smegma Studio, early Autumn 1998
Originally meant to be released in Dec '98 on Iron Fist Prod.
This never happened but it was later released in 2001 via The End Records
as a limited edition MCD with bonus tracks.
Although recorded much later, "Of Stone..." was the first song to be written after the first demo. This being early 1997. It was originally going to be on "Pale Folklore" but we felt "Dead Winter Days" was conceptually much better suited for that album.

1998 Promo
Side A
Hallways Of Enchanted Ebony
Side B
The Melancholy Spirit
Recorded in May 1998 at Soundtracks
30 chrome-cassettes were made solely for labels and select press.
A few copies dubbed for friends also exist.
These songs, together with "Of Stone...", "Haunting Birds", and another Breyer piece, would have appeared on a 2nd official demo had we not found a record deal by the end of 1998.
