This is the only piece of music Alex Reece put out in 1998; it came in the guise of this promo CD. It showcased his follow up album to So Far; unfortunately Island didn’t release the album because they believed it was more like 80’s techno than drum & bass. The whole project was sadly scrapped, apart from the track Vicious Circle which was later released in 1999 on vinyl.
Will You Give Me What I Need? Is a haunting record and bizarrely features no drums, it has a synthesizer that speeds up and then gorgeous female vocals come in. Sound Clash is another experimental track that I like, it has a compressor effect on the drums that is really avant-garde, and a really nice synthesizer that sounds strangely like the first level music from the Amiga computer game Sly Spy. The main record Vicious Circle is a kinetic dance floor friendly track, that has a 80’s style synth playing throughout.
I was lucky to pick this up on Ebay still in its shrink wrap, definitely Reece’s rarest release and well worth a listen.
