I honestly find the A side track, Gris, to be annoying, mainly due to an uninteresting drive, and the music just comes at you, builds, but never amounts to anything. That is, until this ridiculously pointless vocal about eating us all up doesn't rise out of nowhere but thankfully quickly enough it runs for cover back to the same dark cave it got out of. Some occasional cool sounds are added to the track, like in most of Alex' work, but it doesn't really help improve the situation here.
The flip side, Anthemo, while not all that interesting, shows a completely different aspect of Alex Under's work. It lacks even the slightest trace of a playful lead and groovy and crispy percussion. It's just a toned down number, stripped of virtually any dance floor potential, but shows a somewhat more mystical side of his production output. There is melody throughout, true, but at places it gets shaded by short outbursts of darker effects and undertones quitely stalking and haunting the listener. Not quite as dark and moody as Plastikman's Consumed album, but as far as I am concerned, it is a great contrast to the stuff Alex became know for. Too bad about the A side though...
