Reviews & Discussion

Review by maroko Dec 19, 2008
I was put onto this album by a mate of mine from Finland, and had an "oh my god" reaction upon the initial listen.
Hands down, this is the best techno release of 2006, and I still see nothing touching it.
Right from the kick off, with the deep and super groovy Radius, the listener is sucked into a vacuum of crispy kicks, subtle and little effects and noises intertwining in the background, all cemented with top of the line bass lines which are complemented with feet taping and head nodding melodies. What more could you ask for?
Certain tracks have a somewhat mystical feel to them, at least as far as I am concerned, mainly due to some amazing haunting tones rising from the background, serving as a supporting crutch, if I may put it so, for the music.
My favorite tracks are A Day Ago and Riding Metal Mosquitos, which have an extra melancholic touch, which only allows them to come across as really honest tunes, like Anders Ilar was really letting his heart pour out of the speaker with those numbers. A marvellous release!
