I agree that the phillip glass track kinda sucked, I liked the effort though(gotta love those strings). But for pete sakes! almost every other track on this Cd was brilliant. I had always heard of Aphex twins destruction of tracks when he remixes them, so I kinda didn't want to listen to them. But i'm so glad i did, because it's almost like 26 original songs! 26 new songs! This is impressive stuff and is yet another addition to the Aphex/AFX collection. BRAVO.

This album shows that RDJ is the only one that can actually remix a song and make it sound *nothing* like the original. I love the entire CD, i definentely have favorite tracks leaning on the second CD though. I'll just go through the tracks....

The Beatnik song 'Une Femme N'est Pas Un Homme' is remixed beautifully and sounds nothing like the original other than the melody which is AFX'd out. The glitched beat is amazing here.

The Philip Boa & The Voodoo Club song 'Deep in Velvet' is also an amazing glitched out track that implements RDJ's acidic/analog sounds =).

The 808 State song 'Flow Coma' sounds like a remix of the Chemical Brothers back when they were The Dust Brothers sampled with early 90's Prodigy. The melody is pricless, and the acid sounds are up there with actual Aphex releases.

The Windowlicker mix is by far the more minimal track on here, but is amazing and retains that bouncy sound with the glitchy melodies and samples. THE COWBELL ROCKS =)

The Baby Ford song 'Normal' has an amazing acid approach with a techy-breakbeat backing, and occasionally a techno-esque sound.

Overall this is pretty much an Aphex release, and even if you don't like the originals, I promise you that your messedup techy ears will be satisfied that they are ripped apart.

The only track I wasn't happy with was the Philip Glass song 'Heroes', why did he ruin the song =( maybe it's more of a statement more than anything else.

26 Mixes for Cash shows the tremendous diversity of the Aphex Twin’s talent. The first disc focuses more on the kinder, gentler Twin, with more mid-tempo deconstructions. Right off the bat, the delicate layering of angelic voices and crunchy beats on the Seefeel and Gavin Bryars remixes. The Kinesthesia and Buck Tick remixes are more of the abstract IDM sound for which the Aphex Twin is known. Of special note on the first disc: the Nav Katze and Saint Etienne remixes. Also, try to identify any part of Jesus Jones that remained in the “Zeros and Ones” remix. You can play this game with any of the tracks. The second disc showcases the more frenetic and harsher Twin, though with the same creativity and sonic mayhem. Of particular note is the “SAW2 CD1 TRK2 (Original Mix)” Having heard the ambient version, it’s fascinating to hear the original as something that wouldn’t be out of place on the dancefloor. Some astounding work on display here.

'26 Mixes' is a good collection that could have been even better. Several of the remixes are edited (At The Heart Of It All, Mindstream, and others) and Heroes has a bad mastering glitch that doesn't appear on the original release. But the good does outweigh the bad as it's nearly impossible to track down the originals of all these. I just can't shake the feeling that Warp blew an opportunity for a classic release.

Absolutely brilliant! Got no other words for it! I already knew all the songs, before this album was released, from all the original LP's and CD's! I am not quite sure if there is any song I prefer in particular! I definetely think Curve - Falling Free (Aphex Twin Remix) is terrific, especially if you compare it with the original version!

Always loved Raising the Titanic! The classical atmosphere and the brilliant drum sounds give this song its completely own dimension!
