Reviews & Discussion

Rated 5/5
Review by ruethewhirl May 13, 2012 (edited 10 days ago)
Ventolin is quite a track.
As an asthmatic, i couldn't have imagined that a musician could have expressed, through sound, that feeling of having the air running out, and applying all the forces of your body to bring a bit of oxygen that won't even make it to the lungs. The constant high frequency hum won't please the majority, but it shows exactly how one feels during an asthma attack: constantly alert and not being able to calm dawn and even think or hear anything. The overall dark and medical mood of the track really add to the experience.
I am only giving this a 5 out of 5, because Ventolin is a beast of a track and doesn't really work well in ICBYD as it works in this EP. Too bad the remaining tracks feel like fillers, beside The Coppice Mix, which is very sweet and dream like, and feels like returning to normal after the asthma crysis, as if you got your oxygen back again. Ventolin EP would have been perfect if it had only these two tracks.

NOTE: On the UK cd ep for "Ventolin", there are no discernable separating breaks in between tracks #4, #5, and #6, (combined time: 15:09).
