So danceable and yet emotional, intensely personal but capable of transmitting its energy to any open-minded listener. Arthur Russell's genius lies in his ability to bridge any gap (just listen to "Is It All Over My face" and you'll see all barriers between white, experimental music and black, party music collapse).

As usual, this Soul Jazz compilation can boast extensive and useful liner notes, cover artwork of the original 12" or LP releases, and a good choice that spans the various sides of Russell's creativity.

Everything on this album is awesome. However, its worth getting simply for "In The Light Of The Miracle" which was previously only available on a super limited white label on Talkin Loud that never got a true release. Its easily one of the most emotional disco/house tunes I've ever heard. Arthur Russel was on top of his game that day, and considering how great his catalogue is that's really saying alot.

An excellent compilation of the music of a unique musical innovator. Sounds utterly fresh, inspired and surreal. Who knows what Arthur Russell would have done with the modern studio techniques of the 21st century.

Also, these recordings are very rare to find on the original 12" releases, so its nice of Soul Jazz to put this out.
