Attica Blues toss off the “Mo’Wax” sound that hamstrung their first album and go for a more raw sound on Test. Don’t Test. The beats are thick, the melodies darker, and Roba’s sultry and longing vocals drift above the proceedings like a dark angel. “What Do You Want?” manages to be paranoid and pretty at the same time. “The Man” registers rage with its urgent chorus and squealing strings. On the opposite end of the spectrum, “Security” is a hip-hop torch song. Good things from this trio.
