Disc One is the best release Autechre ever did and the first one anyone should ever buy if they want to start their journey towards Autechre. Every track has a unique flavor and borders that fine line between techno and experimental.

Disc Two is great as well, but a bit too repetitive to be a favorite. "Vletrmx21" is the best ambient track they ever did and ever will do and "Garbagemx36" is the best on the album and doesn't even seem like over 14 minutes when you’re listening to it.

Like it's been mentioned so many times. If your a first time listener, get this double, afterwards you'll want them all.

I love this record. This is probably my favorite Autechre album. The combination of deep, think pads, weird glitchy beats and assorted noises, is genius! When I first bought this record I didn't know that the second disc was two separate EP's. I'm not sure what Autechre's intention was for releasing this version with the two EP's, but they certainly go well with one another. Both discs seem as though they were meant to be one long track, everything just flows. You could listen to this album without being aware of when one track finished and the next began.

Most people would probably say that this album doesn't compare to a release like Amber, but I think this record deserves more credit. There may not be any hard driving beats, chaotic interludes or breakdowns, and it may seem fairly bland at times when compared to albums like Amber or Draft 7.30, but it definitely has a genuine appeal and a whole lot to offer.

If Valve Software had half an ounce of sense, they'd have forgotten about making a soundtrack for Half-Life and just licensed this instead. It feels like you should listen to it exclusively in abandoned factories. It's more industrial than industrial music. Fabulous, mathematically precise and terrifying.

Eutow was the very first Autechre track that I ever listened to, and it blew me away. Then when I heard the other tracks I thought it was all crap. It took me awhile to get into the more difficult tracks, but now I love anything autechre. I believe its because Eutow is their softest, easiest tune. It really stands out from their other tracks.

And as for TR++ as a whole, it is also very easy to listen too. Same with Incunabula. These 2 albums would be great for first time listeners, because of their easy listening. Also, they should be the only thing first time listeners should try, since something like Confield could turn them away forever.

Tri Repetae takes place in a machine factory on some distant planet where there are no humans and where the sky is always red. The factory's high windows are smeared with liquid smoke, but from the catwalk one can still make out the barren mountains jutting up at the far end of the orange desert that surrounds the building on all sides. Giant metal claws plunge into mounds of sparking cables and extract the demolished corpses of robots that once served a purpose in this world, some fighting wars, some carrying supplies across impassable landscapes, some drilling holes into the floors of green oceans. A red wind from outside stirs up the acrid smell of hot metal and feeds the fire of a monstrous black furnace, gaping like the mouth of a volcano beneathe dangling corpses that were once filled with the fear of death, the terror of the battlefield, the frantic sound of snapping metal.

What can I say about Tri Repetae? Besides that this is the definitive Autechre release, in every way.

"Dael" is a wonderful piece of slow electro-funk; "Clipper" is more uptempo, full of beats and synths that screw with your mind. Other highlights include "Rotar" & "Rsdio".

The inclusion of "AeG: Garbage" and "Anvil Vapre" is definitely welcome here: "Garbagemx36" is just under 15 minutes of pure electronic funkiness, "Brunchusevenmx24" is ambience at its best. And, "Second Bad Vilbel" and "Second Scout" are two of the best songs Booth & Brown have ever done.

THIS is the best starting place for the new Ae fan; it has everything; the snarling funk, the head-screwing beats, the wonderful melodies. HIGHLY recommended!
