I'm not really into trance but this 12" is remarkable. The a side "Seven Days And One Week" is pure genius, with its spaced out melody & flooty feel to it. I used to listen to it after a rave to chill out to while having a smoke. The beats are smooth & chilled, why can't all trance be like this hay :o)

All the best remixes of this fabulous track made in the progressive years of the mid 90ies are inside this double Ep. Anyway the original mix is still the best even if the Tomcraft remix makes this record a trance anthem of good impact especially in the beginning of the track.

'Seven Days And One Week' was released about the same time that 'Children' by Robert Miles gained success on Deconstruction. Together these two tracks heralded the arrival of trance into the mainstream. Out of the two, this track with it's plucked chords has in the long term proved to be the more influential of the pair.

The fact that both tracks are such fantastic records should come as no surprise when you consider the personnel involved. Bruno Sanchioni was partly responsible for the classic 'The Age Of Love' by Age Of Love, and Emmanuel Top is hugely respected amongst his peers.

Years on, it is amazing to think that such a trancey and seemingly sparse piece of music as 'Seven Days And One Week' could be such a huge hit.

Surely, everyone knows (or should know) the title track. Huge when it was first released, it eventually became boring to hear it thrice on a night out in the summer of 1996. By the time it reached the music channels on television a year later, it was well worn out and, today, many find it annoying. Understandably.
Strangely enough, the flip track never got much airing. Strangely? Well, not exactly, as it is much, much darker. Then again, it is also much, much better, so yeah: strangely. Hypnose is, as the title suggests, a long, repetitive, hypnotic trance ride that provokes thought and head-nodding.

I got this record without realising that it was only remixes. I love the original Seven Days, and these remixes are close to being just that- rearrangments of the original sounds, with very little information added.

As pretty as the music is, I find that the breaks are a bit too long, and in the case of the Moguai remix, WAY too long. It's not a good sign when your previously full dancefloor now consists of people looking around, wondering where the beat went, or worse, your dancers dissappear towards the chill-room or whatever.

Still, it's 7D&1W- so it's good to have- but I much prefer the original.

Everybody knows the main track "Seven days and one week", another "Trance Classic" from Emmanuel Top, but listen carefully the b-Side "Hypnose", a powerfull hypnotic trance track, a track with a very slow progessive melody, as good as the A-Side !
