Bart Van Wissen - A Better Way / One Reason

What a release!

The A side is very nice in itself; it's a beautiful piece of melodic prog employing a slightly funky bassline and a rather trancey melody.

The B side is the real deal though. Faintly tribal, faintly trancey, very deep. It's seemingly repetitive for the first half of the track and yet it doesn't get boring in the slightest. It's one of these tracks which uses very subtle progression, so that when the "big" element does come in, it whacks you over the head in surprise, makes you sit up and say "wow!". In this case, that element is an ethereal trance groove at the half-way mark, with a completely unique sound that's half percussion, half tonality. However, the key to this song is in it's laid-back vibe. No overblown melodies or ridiculous build-ups here, just pure hypnosis and bliss. The melody carries you away to another place.
