Beat Pharmacy - Rooftops (Minilogue's Taquism Remix): In my opinion, this is what Minilogue does best. I dont much like their bleepy more abstract releases. For example, most of the tracks on their Animals double LP album do nothing for me. Please don't get me wrong. I hold Minilogue releases in the highest regard, and I respect their output as artists and dj's. Those tracks on the Animals release are not bad but they do not have the same techy groove as this Beat Pharmacy remix does.
When working with subtle kick drums, basslines, and intricate percussion Minilogue can absolutely dominate. About half way through the above mentioned Taquism remix, the low end slowly fades out leaving the highs and a bit of suspense. In come the big haunting keys and the beat drop that settles over you like your favorite comforter on a cool summer night. There's nothing tacky or obnoxious about this track. Every element plays its part and combined they form a beast.
