A lot of this remix collection, as well as the album Happiness that spawned most of the tracks, sounds sadly dated in 2005. However, I would recommend this CD for The Calyx of Isis alone: a Beloved classic of over 10 minutes of pseudo-breakbeat house merging into chilled piano and synth. Fantastic!

The album is remixes of the songs on "Happiness". I really like "Happiness". It sounds light and melodic but when it's on a big system it's a fantastic Madchester bug-eyed monster of an album. But I hate this pointless affair myself. It's too dippy hippy vaguely trancey to my mind - the original is tight and focused but this just seems to drift on because it can. If you want drifty " morning after, can't sllep music" I guess it's OK but why not do it properly and listen to mellow jazz instead, frankly. The best bits on this are those which are the least altered from the originals. Most of the quality here is because it's based on a quality work. I'd certainly recommend "Happiness"to anyone but not this, sadly. It's a shame, but that's the way I see it. I honestly don't feel it's got a lot to say considering the quality of the source material. I've really tried to like this but I just can't.
