Beloved* ‎– The Sun Rising

Notes:
The deep house track "The Sun Rising" was The Beloved's first hit, achieving club success and reaching #27 on the UK pop chart in September 1989. Like Orbital's later track "Belfast", it was partly based on a sample of "O Euchari" by Hildegard von Bingen (performed by Emily van Evera). Original mixes appeared in 1989, and additional remixes and a wider release followed in 1990. A 1997 re-release, coinciding with the Single File compilation, included old and new remixes.

My favorite remix of this wonderful package is the Tom's Drum and Bass Mix. I used to listen to it over and over and over... Perfect for ending a set while the sun is... rising... A classic.

I first heard this on an old Miles Maeda mixtape and immediately felt the vibe of this record. Mark Pritchard turn out a outstanding deep house mix, exactly what you would expect from one half of Global Communication - Tight beats and drums, swirling chords and that haunting vocal "...It's the sun riiiising"

Amazing 7am music - Just as the sun is bursting through the window and the party is dying down, everything is hazy... Bang this on and you have an instant "moment".

How DEEP do you wanna go?

We all know the Original version of The Sun Rising, that Deep, nostalgic sounding tune for those early morning hours, lying on the beach, watching the Sun Rising above the horizon....feeling already the beams touching your face...

Norty Cotto and Tony Humpries make this one even going DEEPER.
Just by giving the bassline a slightly other loop, it sounds warmer and deeper.

Norty added a, sometimes, screaming Guitar & Violin sample on the Vocal Mix & Mood Mix wich doesn't affect the tune due scarce use but makes it even more sounding nostalgic for some reason, together with Jon Marsh's hypnotising voice this tune mesmerizes you and brings you to another state of mind, absolute TOP producing here!

Tony does what he does best, giving other peoples music that remix job that only Tony can do without destroying the Originals.

Tony's rework of The Sun Rising is a good one that just adds simple extra's to the Original.
Also reworked that bassline, uses that Guitar lick and a wicked Organ stab together with a funky Disco sounding Guitar loop giving this rework a vibe you can't resist.

His mixes of Up, Up And Away are ace as well, turning this originally 'Poppy' sounding tune into a wicked dubby Garage tune wich reminds you of Raze's Break 4 Love.

Tony and Norty delivered some amazing work here, only pro's can pull this of, RESPECT!

WEA and The Beloved ran into a bit of trouble over the vocal sample on this track (the one that appears just after the title in the chorus). It actually came from "A Feather On The Breath Of God", an album of 12th-century plainsong released by the tiny independent label Hyperion, who not unnaturally were rather miffed that they hadn't been asked! In the end they settled out of court for a modest sum. The same sample turned up again the following year in Orbital's "Belfast", but this time it was properly credited, with Hyperion getting their rightful cut.

Although there are many versions of this classic 'Ambient' tune, this release was the one i came across recently. The standout mix (for me personally) is the 'Son Of The Rising House'. It is an extremely smoothe affair with a suprisingly ahead of it's time 'Trance' element running through, complimenting the balaeric style piano interludes, subtle acid stabs and a smoothe synth pattern underneath. A pretty obscure release of this well known ambient classic.
