Reviews & Discussion

Rated 5/5

This is one of Biosphere's most sophisticated albums.
The whole album is a story, unmasking it's beauty and hidden qualities through emotional and creative adventures such as 'People are friends' (one of my most favourite tracks) and 'Dissolving Clouds' which are the two top songs on the album.
In contrast between 'Dropsonde' and 'Substrata', this album definitely has the upper hand. While the quite, abstract and minimal sounds of 'Substrata' are excellent, 'Dropsonde' is much stronger and more emotional then any of his other works.
This is an album ambient fans cannot miss. 5/5

Geir Jenssen blows my mind away everytime i listen to this beautiful record. The jazzy uptempo rhythms and sounds combined with high frequenties ambient sound is just a perfect combination between relaxing and listening. The perfect timing for listening to the album is probably when the weather is hot and rainy, and trow your bedroom windows open to become one with the sounds from your speakers.
Name it an masterpiece and my favorite record from Biosphere.

This Biosphere's work is wonderful. Although the sound landscapes are close to his previous releases , I think that this one is less experimental. This fact doesn't mean that its of a lower quality. The production is very sophisticated and mature.
As stated in a comment of the LP release the smooth jazzy drums is something new to Biospheres productions that makes this release more 'appropriate' for a wider range of listeners.
