Björk - Debut

This is probably one of the best albums in Björk's discography. Starting with "Human Behaviour", had a great percussion beat and the lyrics are simply brillant. "Crying" is another beautiful song, very deeply and rhythmic, sounds fantastic. I definitively love "Play Dead", an amazing melancholic downtempo piece. This album is special because had a variety of styles, ranging from Deep House to Downtempo to Jazz-ish themes. This is really a great "Debut".

This is a fine album with some soaring high points and a couple mid-points. I find overall that it's excellent but there are a couple tunes that aren't 5/5 material. My personal fave is "One Day" due to its fantasmical production merits and really pretty melodic synth leads/riffs. Her voice is like the sonic equivalent of a good deep-body massage. Human Behaviour has excellent production too and a good but disappointing story behind it. In 1993 this song went up against Janet Jackson w/Tupac Shakur and a couple other forgettable pieces of schwag in the Best New Video category at the Grammys and lost to Janet/Tupac simulating sex for five minutes when Bjork's video was at the cutting edge of computer animation innovation. It just went to show you how the Grammys are a corporate-controlled bunch of shit! Bjork's video for Human Behaviour was 1000 times better than the simulated sex of their competition. Anyway, One Day starts off a four-song marathon of this album's top spots toward the end. Aeroplane and Come To Me are both tens and Violently Happy is a 9.5. This album truly is a work of superior art and should be heard more than it often is. When I become a "DJ" I'll be sure to throw in One Day because it is that good! Check for yourself!
