Blondie ‎– Rapture

The US promo 12" does not have the full length 10:02 disco mix found on the UK and European releases, which is a major drawback, regardless of how rare it is. It may have collector value due to its scarcity, but it has no club play value because it's 3:30 shorter than the full length disco mix. If you're willing to settle for a lesser version of Rapture, then play the US 12". All of the top club DJs in New York City during the 1980s played the full length disco mix.

This is just an opinion along with research, Rapture was released in 1980. The first 12" of Rapture appeared in 1980 on a dark blue Chrysalis Label overseas. The cover of that release had a picture of Blondie on it. The track for 1980 in 12" form was extended, the 12" released in 1980 may be the rarest and most limited.

The sleeve picture must be wrong, it's not the french release as far as I know. The french sleeve is similar to the German, swedish and UK releases for instance. The sleeve picture shown is most likely from the US release!
The reverse sleeve has "impremé et fabriquè en France" written left dowwn corner.

This was mainly distributed to radio stations and the quantity of this promo is very limited compared to many others of the time. Allthough this promo is lacking the 9+ minute disco version found on the commercial 12", the label on the commercial copy is the plain common Chrysalis label. I paid $270 for this a few months back and have no regrets. The edited version on side B is a very hard version to come by on vinyl format since the LP and U.S 7" single were both pressed/released with the long version. This is a superb Super Sound Single from the proud tradition of the disco era that gave birth to the magical 12-inches!
"Rapture", with Debbie's cool rap, gets a funky latino wrap; this is PARTY!
"Live it up" on the flip tells about the flipside of partying, the truth of too much partying(!!).If you ever liked these two originals, you will love these augmented/fully extended versions meant for the discoteque - They NEVER sounded better. A milestone.
