Awesomely funky! I’ll never understand how a presumably white Norwegian dude absorbed so much American funk music, but there you have it. His songs are amazingly catchy and just a joy to listen to. “The Piper Cherokee” with its bass and flute combo gets your feet tapping in no time, while “My French Brother” goes for an organ and some breathy vocal samples. It’s equal combinations of lounge, funk and jazz, shaken up and served with an olive. “Theme from Skidoo” has horns-a-plenty, and “Sambartica” shows that Latin rhythms aren’t always limited to south of the border. There are some beautiful grooves on this album, so join the riot!
