Boozoo Bajou’s second full-length, DUST MY BROOM, immediately shoots us into country-blues dub trip-hop—that’s a lot of descriptors for “Keep Going,” but it’s true. Each and every one of those influences is in there. And it works. “Take It Slow” follows its own advice in a lazy dub haze, while “Killer” goes toe-tapping upbeat. The thick Texas twang of “Way Down” has a mysterious edge to it—surprising for two guys from Germany. But for those looking for more blues hollerin’, “Moanin’” hits the spot perfectly. “S.I.P” thrums with a laidback funk that flows seamlessly into “Treat Me.” Finally, “Barkensignal” takes the album out on a quiet, dreamy note. An excellent album, especially for those craving something new in their downtempo.
