Reviews & Discussion

Review by DjTruBlue Jan 03, 2009
This Atlanta band helped usher in some of the funkiest music during the late 70s. With Ray Ransom on lead vocals and Regi Hickman on guitar,Jimmy Brown being the multi-instrumentalist and singer and Eddie Irons on drums.. how could they go wrong. The Brick album is one of the greatest albums of all times and continues to impress me as it's sampled by so many artist. I remember being in Atlanta when India Arie dropped album "Acoustic Soul" and immediately was wowed that they had sampled Brick's Fun which appeared on side 2 of this album. Fun is not an obvious choice for most Brick fans because they pop to tunes such as "Dusic","Ain't Gonna' Hurt Nobody," and "We Don't Wanna' Sit Down (We Wanna Git Down)". Great album and definitely a good one to have in your record collection.

This album was produced almost entirely by Brick and Ray Parker Jr.
Kid'N'Play made somewhat of a "cover" version of "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody" in 91, counting with Clark Kent's skills on production and sample choosing, that went pretty well on the charts and radio playlist
