I bought the record shortly after it was published because of the perfekt sin, but only recently became addicted to it. the power of this track is very very well hidden. i knew the track was "excellent", but i did not experience its power until MUCH later. should this be BCAK's only release, it is very fitting that it is a masterpiece. a detroit masterpiece. moody, beyond deep, and driving...brilliant art.

The future of Kyle Hall's band Bsmnt City Anymle Kontrol is sort of cloudy, since Dorian Fiddler died a month after this came out. This is awful sad, I would have loved to see another release or two from these guys. The concept of the project was apparently to help out emerging artists in Detroit, everyone in the band is 21 years old or younger, including the man himself, KMFH.

When I think about this album I can't help but be reminded of Theo Parrish's project The Rotating Assembly... The Rotating Assembly records have an interesting place in the Sound Signature catalog, they're some of the least expensive to buy, I've seen them at just about every decent record store I've been in, and yet they get no hype at all, despite being that pretty damn good jazzy deep house stuff that everyone expects from Sound Signature. They're underrated and ubiquitous, it's confusing...

Anyway, I hope this record gets the attention it deserves, unlike those mentioned above, because it's fantastic both in concept and substance, really. Wonderful, the essence of house music - for 2009 and the future. On the B side are two tracks from the smoother side of Mr. Hall that are nearly as good. Wild Oats is THE label folks, and I think we'll realize that even more in the near future... Excellent release.
