.. and anyway, about the tune - ffs - it's solid without being spectacular, a nice record but not as good as street halo by burial; the parallels 12 by hebden abd braith; and king of limbs. This is like a warm up session ahead versus those three releases. Yet it appears everyone lost themselves to the hype in a spectacular way - if only the record itself made us do the same. a triumph of style over substance, but a good release nonetheless.
I would like to know why my original comment about this record was deleted, in which I said this was not as good as the Moth 12". Which it's not.
i finally got one for 5.80gbp, but that's only because i buy so many records from the shop that put one aside for me. i hate the way vinyl releases are sometimes. it makes me wish i'd bought 2 CDJs instead of 2 1200s. you lot reselling vinyls for $40+ are a disgrace. if your release is sold out in less than a day and nobody can keep it in stock, then that means press more copies.
I too managed to get a copy of this much talked about slab of vinyl. Would it be wrong of me to suggest that even the record stores themselves may be withholding these from their sales given the hype surrounding this release? I must admit I tried to order 3...but alas only 1 turned up and several stores were saying 'only 1 per customer'. Now they are just saying 'unavailable'. In the meantime...keep hunting!
I was quite fortunate as my local record shop owners (HQ Muzik, Birmingham), put a copy on hold for me. From what they told me, this 300 figure was pre-sales (like advanced white label copies, but actually the 'full release'), and the remainder of the batch were later distributed.
Text010 has had it's full release, it may get re-pressed but it will always be severely limited and the label will eventually pull the plug on it with no notice. The label like to keep the buzz on it by keeping everything hush hush, no info on stock etc. Can't tell you how many were pressed, but it was definitely more than 300!.
Well I own a shop, and all I received was two copies ! On the release info supplied by Southern Record Distribution, there is no mention of a "full release". The previous release was a limited edition, and this has also been noted as a limited edition in the sale info.
Which two record stores received over 300 copies ?, because, Juno, Chemical, Redeye, Recordstore, IMO, are all sold out.
i'm definitely going to need a few hundred or 1000+ more to come because i bought a copy from a store that didn't even have any for sale! don't buy from recordstore.co.uk.
Does anybody know about the general sales availability of this release?
My local record shop told me that the initial batch was for online sales and 'pre-sales' (similar to white labels / promo's, but the full release); and they said they'd be getting some in the coming weeks.
Can anyone confirm if this sounds correct? Help would be much appreciated!
