Recorded mid-winter 1992 during fullmoon at Grieghallen.
Euronymous (DSP owner) changed the "Ea, Lord Of The Depths" title to "Ea, Lord Of The Deeps." It was changed back to the intended title on 1995 Misanthropy Records reissue.

First and the best Burzum album strikes you with purest essence of hateful, angry and gloomy raw blackmetal with a few ambient touches (which are IMHO the weakest point of every Burzum release). Side Hate consists of four extremely brutal tracks filled with misanthropy while Side Winter is more emotional and even quite melodic. The only really bad song here is 'War'. Seriously, Varg gets too melodic here with the riffs. Every other track (except of mediocre 'Crying orc') is a masterpiece coming straight from the evil churchburner's mind.
