What a pleasure to write down the first comment on this brilliant release form Cabaret Voltaire! And dear, who could have expected THIS after the harsh and fierce punk of their previous single, "Nag Nag Nag"! "Silent Command" is an incredible track : a two-tone punk frame with some treated vocals, always on the edge of madness, enhanced by some French films samples dropped cleverly now and then (I recognized French Actor Michel Piccoli talking about an Iranian woman named "Anita", FWIW) and punctuated some manic keyboards riffs or strange tape effects.
The overall feeling oscillate from energizing/mesmerizing experimental punk-rock to bizarre fun, not to say the feeling it's a complete joke !
Clearly a timeless track, weird hypnotic and catchy tune when released, obviously, but still as bizarre and seducive today and certainly tomorrow, which proves again the talent of Kirk, Watson & Mallinder.

The B-side, a soundtrack for an experimental film from Babette Mondini, is more on the previous wavelength of the experimental ambient that Cabs did display in its first years.
