Reviews & Discussion

referencing Helyom Halib, 12", Gre, MR 527

Nineteen eighty eight was definitely the hottest year for Acid House Music on Europe: you could finally hear all thos influences from the Chicago scene ("Acid Trax" was released on Belgian label Who's That Beat, ZYX got the license from Trax for "We Are Phuture" and you could hear underground hits such as "Machines" by Laurent X, "Jesus Loves The Acid" by Ecstasy Club, among others that would infest the clubs) and realize that it wouldn't take long for it to affect the productions of the European artists themselves.

That was definitely the case on Cappella's "Helyom Halib", an early Italo House hit written by Gianfranco Bortolotti, Pierre Feroldi and Pier Rossini; "Helyom Halib" got amazing basslines with 303, the weird acappella from Steinski & The Mass Media on "Let's Play It Cool" on the quote "Hello, my friend... There is something I'm about to sing... Means so much to me... Something that I'm about to sing... Put me back! Put me back! Put me back... On a solid Rock! (Get Down!) Ah! Keep the Party Goin'!", and the vocals from the House Classic "Work It To The Bone" by LNR (on "Come on let's work it to the bone-bone-bone!").

This was a time when the Italian House producers still got great influences and made fine combos. "Helyom Halib" was a huge hit between 1988 and the year of 1989.
