Reviews & Discussion

Probably the most vulgar, offensive, insane and British record ever recorded, the amount of time and effort put into this monstrosity is staggering. "The Parker Tapes" features hundreds upon hundreds of samples pilfered from radio, record, and TV, and puréed into a libelous brew of celebrity soundbytes and musical interludes.
If the appeal of an album like this isn't immediately obvious, I offer you this: Who could say no to Tony Blair declaring that "We are launching THE biggest assault on poor, 11-year-old Emma O'Brien from Ellesmere Port"? Or a newscaster intoning that "people can be carried for miles by bees"? Or "What about the leopard? -- There's an argument for them living on council estates"? A work of genius.

Apparently it took Cassetteboy 7 years to create this album! Well in my opinion it was definitely worth it. The humour and downright crudeness of the album is a joy to listen to, their creativity knows no bounds whether it be; Jamie Oliver "whacking his old man right up his alley", an S club 7 orgy (using their own lyrics descriptively) or "million dollar" Bill Gates trying to take over the world.
There are a few musical mash up interludes which work very well too, and they go some way to help the album flow as a single composition.
Albums and projects on this scale don't happen all that often, but I really, really hope that Cassetteboy find some time to splice/edit/cut-up/sample/copy for another project in the not too distant future.

New cassetteboy / dj rubbish album just released (though it's more of a label compilation really). This time its more George Bush and Tony Blair disses. Big brother also get the cassetteboy treatment. Theres also covers of j-lo's jenny from the block, a great mickeytake of the streets (by "the roads") and a track called "george bush is an islamic fundamentalist". Looks like Cassetteboy and pals are here to stay kids!!!!yay!

i agree this is hilarious, especially the jamie oliver pisstake where cassetteboy makes him say "i'm gonna whack my old man...right up 'is alley". if you're lookin for more cassetteboy there's a shorter christmas cd he made which is just as funny with cut ups of cliff richard's mistletoe and wine, nat king cole's merry christmas to you and other annoying christmas tracks. there's also a remix on yujiya and miyagi remixed on massive advance records. fans of wevie stonder and kid koala will appreciate cassetteboy. actually most people will, my gran loves it!!!

a truly inspired release!! never fails to make me laugh, i find myself quoting excerpts from it all the time. i wonder if we'll ever hear from cassetteboy again or if this was just a one off.
