Debut album by Central Processing Unit (Samy Guediche). The first track was first released on the Master Minds compilation. Here we get a remix of it. This is totally full on noisy psytrance. A hard banging rolling rhythm and a noisy synth melody swirling above. Pure night time trance. Track 2 sounds a bit more melodic, and not as full on as the first track. Still you get the same synth throwing noisy sounds into the full on rhythms. Track 3 goes the same direction with the same sounds and same full on style. To me, it sounds just boring. I will call it full on minimal trance, since it is the same sounds etc all the way. Track 4 starts more interesting. It is made together with Christof Drouillet (Absolum). This a full on stumper. Typical Absolum style, with full on dark sounds all the way. The same sounds come back again, and things get boring for me. At least this is totally meaningless for home listening in my opinion, but it can for sure do it at a party, at least for the hard core boys...

Track 5 starts with some tribal drums. This track is more melodic, and full on in a slightly different way. In my opinion one of the best tracks on this album. Track 6 is made together with dj Mäel (Nomad). Heavy rolling style all the way, with the sounds we are getting used to from the previous tracks on this album. But after a while it builds up, and we get a little change with more melody. Track 7 sounds a lot like GMS, with the same full on sounds as the rest of the tracks here. Ok, one full on track like that is maybe cool, but 9? Track 8 starts banging from the first second. Full on all the way, but more varied than track 7. The last track on this album isn't as fast as the rest. It is more melodic and varied too. In my opinion the best track on this album.

I really like full on psytrance, but a lot of these tracks sounds too much the same. I get bored of the same full on synth sounds all the way. Full on trance has developed a lot the last couple of years, and has become more varied etc, but this is in my opinion one step back. Check it out and listen for yourself.

Central Processing Unit (known to most simply as CPU) is Samy Guediche, one of the primary members of the fantastic San Fran based group Biodegradable (which sadly appears to be no more, with Samy having moved out of the US). For fans of the Biodegrabable sounds, CPU will through you a lot of things you like. However, where as Biodegradable has a bit of a dark tinge to their full on goodness, CPU is simply more full on. Some peole have said its more uplifting and melody. I personally don't 100% agree with that assement, although I can understand the comments. I find CPU to simply be brighter and busier.

Probably the best description of CPU is that this is what full on artists SHOULD be doing. All the elements of the full on sound are there, but just simply done much better than most of the big names has done themselves in a long time. The tracks are dripping with whizzes, zips, creaks, sonic gurgles, thumping kicks and full on bass. While a lot of does sound very GMEsque, I will take CPU over the majority of today's big name full on psy-trance artists anyday of the week and twice on Sunday. While I admit I am getting a bit bored of full-on, CPU is the type of psy that made full-on great and is a CD I'll be listening to frequently.

End result 8/10
