This is a very sneaky album. It was one of the first albums I bought on vinyl after getting my turntables in 2004. I always recognized the quality of the tracks but it seems like the more time passes, the more I grow to appreciate this release. There's a real genuine warmth in the guitar work, the vocals, and especially the basslines that is tough to find in today's music. It sounds like Chab actually made the tracks with real recording instruments and a microphone as opposed to relying on samples from a sound bank. You won't find a single bad song on this entire pack. My personal faves are "My Memory", "Five", and "1987". In my opinion it has that same chilled out appeal that made Sasha's first Involver CD so great. You can listen to this style of music while driving, in the club, at home, it really doesnt matter. The mastering is absolutely brilliant. Total Win.

After many years of quality releases, Francois Chabloz (Chab) presents his first artist album release
titled 'Dubs, Edits and Whisky-Coke' on the famous Satoshi Tomiie's SAW Recordings.
Overall, this is an amazing debut from an artist who has achieved so much for many years now.
It was eagerly awaited in progressive house circles. Some will be amazed, others surprised and some
will be disappointed. Just try to stay open-minded when listening to it..

This smooth album got vibe and atmospheres, some rock elements, an electro attitude, pure house beats
and emotional highlights all blend to create an exciting and varied compilation. Unlike most other albums
out there, this one isn't filled with a bunch of filler garbage, but it features 10 amazing tunes although each
of them delightfully sequenced into the mix to perfection!

Commencing with the moody minimalism of "You and Me", a track with a slow progression that layers in
dark beats that stretch just long enough as a second layer of beats is revealed and absolutely captivatingly
simple melodies hold hands with the beats. This segues into the similarly flavored "Closer to Me", which
summons the spirit previously aroused on "You and Me" and adds a amazing vocal by JD Davis which lends
rock intensity to the catchy tune underlined by the organic sound of timpani figures, a scorcher.
Maintaining tempo, the beats shift into a subdued breakishness on "Sunrise". A track full of emotional stuff.
"Monster" continues the more breaky, less housey flavor and returns to 'Closer to Me's' synth wave techno.
It is a bit darker, but again the catchiness of melody alongside the great use of acoustic guitar is a pleasure.
The vibe lightens with "Lover" which has a progressive vibe and bouncy bassline. The vocals rock amongst
the synth melodies. "Five" one of my personel favourites on the album is exemple of ability to use minimalism
in a huge atmosphere. The next one is the heavily techno-influenced "My Memory", and "My Memory (Part 2)".
Part 2 introduces robotic vox samples. It slips effortlessly into a dreamy mode, outstanding for early mornings.
"Us and Them" feels touched by 80s funk pop. It's a full-bore instrumental, with Chab’s characteristic sound!
Finally we have the finishing track "1987", a nice old school sounding tune which fuses trance transcendence
melodically and retro new wave sensibilities rocking this awesome album to a close.

I really highly recommended this one for all fans of smooth progressive house! It is absolutely superb!

This work is a definition of contemporary music: it can easily throw the usual genre definition out of the proverbial window. Anyone researching what new directions in music are should get this album, because you can have a great listening to experience even if its really danceable and club oriented none the less.
