Reviews & Discussion

Review by carloscorbin Mar 25, 2004
Following to his second LP "Born on the 24...",Mr.Webster launches this sort of annex/plug-in album to the forementioned. In my honest opinion,"Born...." lacked from a more elaborated melody ,you know, songs that remains in your mind and you can then sing or whistle 'em .However ,as expected from gorgeous Webster, the production all through the album was superb, and with very worked out rhythms.."My sweet butterfly " or "Ready" are almost the few songs worth -listening ....

Surprisingly, this remix project "Remixed on the 24..." gets a better rating mark for me, improving and filling in the lacks of the previous and origin album.
There are several remixes, all of the like of Mr. Webster, which are very good and make the album worth getting , even a must have for deep house conoisseurs; "I'm falling", "I understand you" ,"forget the past", the superb webster remix of "Your life"(clearly going a step foward into elestronic music),"Fox soup" or "A gift of freedom".There are some other remixes which are not very good......

In conclusion, i highly recommend this remix album , even before than the original album.

Release that adds nothing to the original and almost never manages to bring the soooo tangible velvet sound of the Born On The 24th Of July. The glittering loungy treatment of many tracks may sound nice but there’s not much more to it; it just sounds nice and nothing more. Exceptions are the excellent contributions of Gas' High Skies and Herbert. The fact that this album exists should be seen as a tribute and emphasizes the importance of the 2001 release. When in doubt: buy the original.
