The first CD leaves me dissatisfied time after time, and it has nothing to do with the fact of it being slightly less upbeat than we're used to from Chris Liebing anno 2001. In fact, it could have been orchestrated as a nice follow up to the smashing second disc, which I will come back later to. The way things are, after the first three tracks are up, what follows is substandard when confronted with the amazing opening. The rest of the mix consists of tracks which are too easy going to make you want to wild out to them, but still too uneven and rough to serve as a chilled out after club session. Both Gaetano Parisio tracks are typical funky techno/tech-house hybrid, but don't stand out amongst many similar of his tunes from that era, while both of Cisco Ferreira's appearances deserve two fat thumbs down, especially the remix of his own classic, Tremmer, recorded under his The Subjective moniker well over a decade ago now. Redemption comes with Sterac's amazing take on T-Quest's (AKA Dr. Lektroluv)
classic Upiter, but by that time I am eagerly waiting to play CD 2...

Hands down, or high up in the air - do what you feel - but the second part of Liebing's mix is a stellar 5/5 journey through hard, neck snapping, groovy and instantly recognisible brand of the typical Chris Liebing style of techno from the period. He's not a surgeon behind decks, so don't expect some off the wall wizardry as on [DC]'s "World service" series, or some raw mixing as with Umek's or Jeff Mills' live sets, but know that you'll be in for fantastic 73 minutes, packed with classics (Guiltless, Gatex, Dream On, two mixes of Analogon...) and smooth mixing. Chris makes simple yet effective transitions from track to track, but is very self confident in doing it and his track selection is top notch!
At the end of the day, nobody will ask you whether or not does he spin like he's a finalist for the DMC World Championship, but whether the music makes you move or not. And this is where the second disc gets the maximum amount of points. Absolutely slaming techno for the hungry crowd, and it does not pretend to be anything more. No fancy tricks, no vocals, no samples, nothing is over done and over loaded, just pure and and straight forward techno. Overall, somewhere around a 3.5/5, due to the somewhat lackluster CD 1.
