Like much of the Morr label, Kleine is likely lumped into the post-Boards of Canada electronic world because of his ambient keyboards, subtle hip hop beats, and use of childrens' voices as samples. While much of this scene is lifeless and unremarkable, "Valis", marketed as an EP, gets its point across fairly well by staying concise.
Kleine's press release states that Kleine tries to "put a little soul into chilly electronics." For the most part, he succeeds at this goal, but "Valis" is hardly the best this genre - or Christian Kleine - has to offer.
