Cocteau Twins ‎– Heaven Or Las Vegas

Deffinitely their most commercial album but none the less their most awe inspiring also. I think all their music is great but this album really shows the extremes this group can go from and to. Sadness, etherial bliss and wonder. A classic album and one that everyone I know thats listened to it loves dearly.

An American "commercial" success for the Cocteaus. The dawning and blossoming of "alternative" radio and video meant it was their moment to sparkle and get the recognition they so rightfully deserved and the first real chance to see them tour other than their previous select and generally exclusive performances stateside. These shows also marked the first on stage exposure of the barely contained excitement of Mazzy Star.
The album itself I haven't bothered to listen to in years, it's aged that well. Themes begin to be revisited slightly, and elizabeth has gone and started introducing much more recognisable vocals into the mix. the production is big, and very under control by this time and it sounds very appropraite for 1990. The title is some word play and a statement of some sort.
