This dj mix lets the listener enter a world of music that for the most part, he or she would not easily be concerned about.
So many styles are displayed that 'shouldn't' work together but in this context, actually do. It's like a musical equivalent of a pizza - there are certain toppings that you wouldn't normally touch, but mixed with others that you do like, it's fine.
Jonathan More & Matt Black are geniuses with a wealth of musical knowledge behind them gained from years of pirate radio and warehouse parties. It was only a matter of time before this Journey was travelled.

This really is one of the best CD's in my collection. (It really is that good!) The mix starts with a brooding rhythim before going into some deep amens courtesy of The Truper (aka Photek) and swifly moves from breaks, (Plastikman, Coldcut) to Hip Hop, (BDP) and into some luscious female vocals (Joanna Law). All with some of the best samples and scratches thrown in along the way.
Just one word of warning. Don't try and track these records down as most of them won't sound as good as they do on here. (My personal opinion of course)
Absolutely Essential.

I've still never heard any mix come close to this. The technical quality, tune selection, variety, incidentals and samples are all on the button, but Coldcut have something more. They do not merely mix, they perform alchemy, and the result is ten times the sum of its parts. Everyone should hear this, no matter what style of music they normally listen to.

Hands down one of the best mixes EVER!!!!! Warm, fuzzy, funky, freaky, stony- the mix between the Gescom and MAW is mindblowing, not to mention Luke Slater's strings fading into the outro...Thanks Radio FG for playing this whole CD back in the day- still have it on tape!

It's hard to believe that this mix is ten years old, it left me absolutely shell shocked when I first heard it and it still excites today. Despite featuring several records at the wrong speed, all sorts of random samples, and even the Dr Who theme it never feels like it's resorting to stunts. The choice of tracks is genuinely original and unlike many 'cut and paste' mixes the whole thing flows superbly from start to finish. One of the few mix albums that can be considered a genuine classic.

Probably the stand out mix of the series. Very cut n paste type mixing. I'm quite sure I read somewhere they did this mix in one hit. If you like Shadow or Yoda - give this mix a listen

'Journey By Dj' it's called and a fantastic and totally enveloping journey it is... navigated through all the styles by the man with all the skills and vision, Coldcut. The journey encompasses everything from reggae, to dub, jungle, house, funk, soul, electro, techno, soundscapes... even a spoken word from the infamous Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedy's fame. At moments frantic and frenetic, others smooth and flowing, the way he's crafted this whole mix into one cohesive whole is trademark Coldcut.
This classic still sounds fresh, as though it could've been released just last year. If you haven't heard this already, go out and do so.

This is the most interesting, emotive and kicking dj-mix ever burned on a cd. Coldcut forced the idea of their glorious Eric B & Rakim Remix and streched it to 70 minutes of pure SOUL and FUNK, just real good music. They mixed Hip Hop, Drum'n'Bass, Downbeat, Female Vox, Samples and Scratches in fantastic turntable action and huge dj skills to a acoustic story that you never can be tired. This was the greatest moment in the history of cd-dj mixes. Try this and you'll know that you live.
