The sound of C is crap and has nothing to do with the 'real' NEW BEAT wave/vague ('87-'88) in Belgium. The main purpose of the Confetti's was making money (which is not a crime right) NOT making new beat. The faces of the confetti's (Peter, Marleen, Tania, Hilde & Daniella) were decor only, they had nothing to do with the sound they were 'performing'. Let's call them a marketing product. The creative brain behind the music is Serge Ramaekers: an average producer with a brain for bu$ine$$. His best (100% new beat) trax were created under the THE MAXX monicker.

I disagree strongly with everyone who states that The Sound of C is no "real" New Beat. For sure it was a huge commercial succes, selling over 50.000 copies (and it put their discotheque, the Confetti's Club, in Belgium's top 3), but for me personally this says nothing about the quality of the song. It has ALL the ingredients for being a genuine and great New Beat song: slow tempo (113 bpm), a hardstopping bassline and good samples. And it was a huge floorfiller at that time!
The sound of c is the first new beat track that become famous(in europe).
I still like this slow and heavy beat nowadays.
The good new beat tracks are few, the sound of c is one of those...
