Reviews & Discussion

It took me quite a while to appreciate these mixes, but they're definitely good. What I do not understand is why they are published under the 'Tyrant' moniker, even though Lee Burridge does not take part in the mixing, as he did for the radio mix of Fabric 15. His lacking presence results in a missing grooviness, which made the 'Tyrant 1 & 2' cd series so cool.

as a fan of the two Tyrant mixes Craig did with Lee Burridge, i have to say that this is a bit crap in comparison. CD1 is straight minimal techno/microhouse, which is ok, but it's not as good as Akufen's Fabric or any of Hawtin's DE9 mixes, etc...disc 2 is a lot of rather undistinguished 'leftfield' and electro tunes, which don't really go anywhere at all. Very disappointing.

this album absolutely blew me away. i've always loved craig richards, from dancing my arse off to his live sets at fabric and tyrant, to dancing my arse off to his fabric.1. CD. but when I heard this i just had to let my mind expand. okay, craig richards might not be the most talented live DJ when it comes to technique but no-one can fault his song choices. and this comp' manages to get both right. I'm sure that there has been much re-working on editting and the likes but who cares? when it sounds this good no-one should complain. this is the best mix CD I've heard for about ten years. it combines true electronic psychedelia with bombastic funkiness and a slice of new-edginess thrown in for good measure. if you're thinking of buying a comp' album, buy this. let me make this one clear. BUY THIS ALBUM IT IS MIND BLOWINGLY GOOD. it's got the most cutting edge tech-house, techno-minimalistic music on CDone and on CDtwo, we've got some great breakbeat tunes. and there's none of that homie breakbeat on here. no, no this is strictly trippy stuff. great album. great DJ. great tunes.
