Trouble on vinyl are a classic drum & bass label, and this track is no exception. Both tracks are heavily hip hop influenced. I was instantly drawn to Bring da flava when Micky Finn played it on 1 in the Jungle. It has good chunky steppa drums (That remind me of Nelly Furtado’s Promiscuous girl. It just shows how pop music is years behind drum and bass.), and a deep bassline. What gives the track a really hypnotic quality is the way the vocals have an echo effect on “I bring the flavour flavour flavour to your ears ears ears. Don’t stop don’t stop. Yeah yeah yeah.”
Keep it real is an unsung classic that I nearly always play live. It has a bassline that keeps changing and getting harder. If you play it through your stereo it sounds good, but live through a P.A system it creates a wall of sound, that leads to pandemonium on the dancefloor.
