Notes
Rebirth, Reinvention, and Adaptation are all words associated with survival. Even in the most adverse situations one can rise above by being in tune with, and adapting to, their surroundings. Through such adaptation comes inspiration. Inspiration is essential in every element of life, without inspiration there is little to celebrate.
Through the cultural fabric of Detroit, one doesn’t have to look far to be inspired. Regardless of your medium of expression, the city, its people, and its music, provide an endless well of influence and inspiration. With the last installation of the Somewhere in Detroit Mix series, DJ 3000 introduced us to the concept of Electronic Soul. A creation from the past modernized through the DJ, the producer, and the audience.
Operating under the shelter of Submerge Recordings, DJ 3000 takes us, once again, on a journey through the unique sonic fabric created and inspired by his surroundings. From the farthest reaches of Gratiot Ave, to the deepest corners of 7 Mile, comes the sound of the future. Bringing with it the images, the sounds, and the culture it has absorbed along its journey into the present.
