DJ Addiction - Bodyswerve / Tijuana

My favourite 12" by Addiction and an all time favourite records. The listener is treated to two amazingly deep cuts.

Bodyswerve sees a warm muted trumbone riff interlaced with tiny electrical crackles and a funky but not overdone melodic bassline. The structuring of gentle two-step beats combines beautifully with the many other elements present giving it a very laid back midsummer feel. Absoutely sublime.

As if the first side was not enough, Addiction lays down "Tijuana", possibly one of the freshest pieces of D&B ever to grace the scene. Journeying through an old medieval Spanish or small south american town in the late afternoon as the sun is casting it's long shadows over the buildings and trees; a festival in full swing, faces from the crowd gaze back as you pass by. A very clever use of drums gives the illusion of a tempo much slower than that of Drum and Bass, almost that of a a traditional dance or waltz. Haunting muted trumpets pervade the senses, a gentle shaking of maracas. This has to be heard to be believed, a description cannot do it justice!
